Roto-Control is a motorized MIDI controller for controlling software and hardware with an innovative system. It packs powerful features into a compact package: freely assignable touch-sensitive motorized knobs, a high-resolution screen with labels for all controls, and internal memory for storing over 8,000 assignments.
With three main operating modes - MIX, PLUGIN and MIDI - and compatible with any software and hardware, Roto-Control brings new control to your music production environment.
■MIX mode that automatically syncs with Ableton Live
It works in Ableton Live's dedicated audio mixing environment. It automatically syncs to your Ableton Live Set, and all track names and colors instantly appear on the Roto-Control display. When you change Ableton Live Sets, Roto-Control automatically updates track names and colors. There's no need to save or edit labels; all data is taken directly from the current Ableton Live Set.
■ PLUGIN mode allows you to control plug-in parameters. Plug-in parameters and labels are retrieved directly from Ableton Live, allowing you to intuitively and quickly set them with a single touch. Once you learn plug-in parameters, Roto-Control will recall the learned parameters every time you use Ableton Live. All learned plug-in parameters are stored locally in Roto-Control, allowing you to quickly use Roto-Control with any computer setup.
You can quickly switch between MIX and PLUGIN modes to suit your workflow, and both modes offer Ableton Live transport control.
■MIDI mode with motion recording function You can control any MIDI-compatible hardware and software, such as synthesizers, DAWs, lighting, media applications, etc. MIDI mode operates in standalone mode and can be used in environments without a computer.
◎Up to 64 MIDI setups can be stored in Roto-Control ◎Each setup can be configured with up to 64 controls (32 knobs + 32 buttons) ◎Setups can be imported/exported using the Roto-Setup App
■Motion recording function
Roto-Control brings the power of Melbourne Instruments' motorized knobs to external gear with motion recording capabilities, enabling creative performance control, including automation and looping of MIDI parameters in external hardware and software, with simple recording and playback.
◎Record up to 8 parameters per setup ◎Motion recordings can be saved to up to 8 MIDI setups ◎Clock source: Internal or external MIDI clock ◎Step length: 16, 32, 48, 64 steps ◎Playback modes: forward, backward, random, ping-pong
■ LEARN function for quick assignment of plug-ins and parameters
In PLUGIN and MIDI modes, you can "LEARN" the parameters of your plug-ins and hardware in just a few seconds. Combined with the Roto-Setup App, you can perform even more detailed customizations and create a setup that suits your environment.
◎ Instantly learn plug-in controls, including plug-in and parameter names ◎ Once learned, settings are saved in Roto-Control for quick recall ◎ Customize plug-in and MIDI setups with names, color codes, and more ◎ Customize knob and button names, colors, touch sensitivity, minimum/maximum values, and steps using the Roto-Setup App ◎ Freely control your hardware setup. Save up to 64 MIDI setups. Instantly recall knob and button positions
■Roto-Setup App
The dedicated Roto-Setup App allows you to edit MIDI channels, CCs, NPRNs, step resolutions and names, as well as add and customize knobs and buttons, including multi-position switches, touch-sensitive controls, toggles, and minimum/maximum values.
◎Edit the color and name of knob and button labels in MIDI mode and PLUGIN mode ◎Import/export MIDI mode and PLUGIN mode setups ◎When you connect Roto-Control, the Roto-Setup App will automatically detect the firmware and perform the update.
