Description
Description
Americana is the root music of white culture, including country, bluegrass, and folk. As white people began to play jazz, which was originally black music, many guitarists began incorporating these elements into jazz. Jazz Guitar Magazine Vol. 11 features a special issue focusing on the fusion of these two musical cultures. On the cover, we feature Julian Lage, who has many fans outside of jazz enthusiasts, and explore his thoughts on jazz and Americana.
The second feature features songs and solos by Charlie Parker (a.sax). His music is packed with essential bebop techniques and phrases, and guitarists will find plenty to learn from. This time, up-and-coming guitarist Koichi Hirata explains the characteristics of Parker's songs and how to use his phrases on the guitar.
The serials by Yosuke Konuma, Taishi Uda, Takao Ogawa, and John Stowell will continue to be published. In addition, there will be a corner where Hirofumi Asaba, who inherited the Kessel style, will provide commentary on Barney Kessel, who is celebrating the 100th anniversary of his birth.
The print version comes with a live CD by Koichi Hirata. The trio, featuring bass and drums, will perform Parker's songs. This performance of Parker's songs, with a guitar-focused arrangement, will be a model for many guitarists.
*The digital version does not include a CD.
