This collection of 21 groovy and mellow city pop songs is the result of the best-selling "Solo Bass Notes" series by Naoki Watanabe, the man behind the solo bass, who created the "Solo Bass" genre, where you can play classic songs on just one bass. This new release, his first in 15 years, features a selection of songs themed around the city pop of the 1970s and 1980s, which has recently become a hot topic due to a revival boom.
The album features 21 tracks, including classics like Mariya Takeuchi's "Plastic Love," Tatsuro Yamashita's "Ride On Time," and Taeko Onuki's "Tokai." It also includes a two-disc CD of sample performances, making it a substantial volume. While previous Solo Bass Studies albums have focused on classical pieces, often featuring ballad-style arrangements, this one also features groovy arrangements with varying tempos, typical of city pop, venturing into a style not seen in previous series.
