Ready to play, D-ROC Series Standard 4.
This redesigned TB model takes inspiration from the Italian supercar brand. It features a balanced body design, a passive triple pickup layout for versatile sound, and the familiar fanned fret system for smooth playability and a clear sound image. In keeping with the brand's recent image, it's also suited to louder genres.
Like the Z Series and Afterburner Series, this model features a 36.25-35.5-34.75-34-inch scale from the 4th string, giving it a solid, stable tone despite being a 4-string model. The gently arched wings, the body back contour design angled from the joint, and the strap pin position on the back of the body prevent the head from dropping, ensuring comfortable playability. The bridge is also equipped with Hipshot's original monorail bridge, allowing for precise adjustments.
This bass features a mahogany body, fitting its exterior design, and delivers a mellow, low-midrange tone with a tight, punchy attack. While it exudes a traditional feel, the four-position rotary switch allows for versatile sound shaping, while the fanned frets provide a solid sound texture, resulting in a high-quality, practical sound and playability. With all pickups engaged, the bass produces a powerful sound comparable to that of an active bass.
There are some parts that require some getting used to, such as the slide, but the good balance is also an attractive feature that makes this a recommended choice for those who normally use Thunderbirds and are concerned that it could be a little better balanced.
