Description
Description
Responding to numerous requests from users for a smaller version of the VTDI RED, the "9VDI" was created, condensed into a size perfectly suited for pedalboards. The VTDI RED is a modern revival of the Ampeg SVT-DI, a tube DI box designed and developed by Obeid Khan himself, refined by Khan Audio. The "9VDI" updates that exceptional sound without any compromise, making it compatible with modern systems.
As its name suggests, it operates on DC 9V / 500mA, not AC 100V. By using a newly developed, proprietary switching power supply to drive the vacuum tube (12AU7) at high voltage, it maximizes the rich harmonics and powerful output drive capability unique to vacuum tubes. It is ideal for a wide range of instruments and sound sources, including bass, acoustic instruments, keyboards, and synthesizer modules. The sound produced by the vacuum tube creates a warmth, clarity, and realism that cannot be obtained with other DI boxes. Acoustic instruments become more pleasing to the ear, and basses become bigger, punchier, clearer, and warmer. In addition, the harshness characteristic of digital sounds in keyboards and synthesizers is reduced, resulting in a more natural sound.
We developed a highly stable, proprietary switching power supply that thoroughly shuts out noise through multiple stages of filtering. By applying this technology to the VTDI RED circuit, the long-awaited 9VDI was born. The audio signal path of the 9VDI is completely identical to that of the VTDI RED. The types, brands, and values of all electronic components used are exactly the same. The only difference is the elimination of the magnetic shielding on the output transformer, which became unnecessary with the switch power supply. This allows you to enjoy the superb sound inherited from the VTDI RED with any instrument, while also creating a package that is easy to integrate into a pedalboard.
