A commemorative model of the Sakura model celebrating its 10th anniversary!

Headway is popular for its high level of craftsmanship and produces a wide range of models, from traditional to exotic and modern.
At Headway, we have Aska Team Build, a small but elite team of staff who have built up a 10-year career under master builder Momose.
Asuka team builds incorporate rare woods not normally used in regular models, as well as processing and designs that require advanced skills, and are produced with specifications that are carefully considered not only for sound but also for appearance.

The cherry blossom model, created with the concept of using Japanese wood (wazai), has been a huge hit. The cherry blossom model began with a single ukulele made in 2014. Headway continues to use this wood, which differs in both quality and sound from imported woods, to this day, leveraging its years of guitar-making knowledge and techniques. Now, as we reach the milestone of our 10th anniversary, we have completed a special model filled with the hope that our products will take further strides and soar into the world.
This particular specimen was kept on display at the Devizer Museum and was the last one to be released.

The body features a Hokkaido-grown black spruce top, selected by the Asuka team build, with mountain cherry wood on the back and sides, and a Japanese horse chestnut center piece on the back. While mountain cherry wood itself is hard, it produces a warm, forward-sounding sound with a midrange-forward tone. Paired with black spruce, which boasts a balanced tone with a firm sustain and peak in the low-midrange, while also offering a well-balanced high range, the three-piece construction and Japanese horse chestnut center contribute to a tight low end and dynamic sound. The guitar also features a 34 semi-forward scallop bracing, a design uniquely developed by Headway master builder Yasuo Momose after studying vintage guitar bracing. The X cross position is semi-forward, closer to the sound hole, resulting in better bass response and a more voluminous sound than when new. The top is also designed with top stability in mind, being positioned approximately 5mm closer to the bridge than the forward shift. The HF body shape is the so-called 000 style, and is characterized by a brilliant, clear sound. The warmth of the mountain cherry and the excellent balance of the black spruce enrich the player's expression.

The neck is crafted from African mahogany with an ebony fingerboard. The grip is an "Extra Slim U Neck" that overturns the image of traditional Headway neck grips, emphasizing its thinness. A carbon bar is inserted inside the neck, which not only provides rigidity and stability, but also reduces unnecessary neck flex, transmitting string vibrations to the top of the body for improved high-frequency response.

The guitar's coloring is an azure gradient, with plenty of turquoise used to evoke a summery image. Turquoise is used for the fingerboard inlay and binding, and the headstock features a design of feathers falling on the water and cherry blossom ripples. The fingerboard features an artistic design that transitions from a feather design to a cherry blossom design in turquoise. The back of the body features a sumi-e (ink wash painting)-inspired paint and inlay, and a flying crane is depicted in ghost paint.

It is the culmination of Headway's many years of accumulated technology and know-how in making guitars using Japanese materials.
This Sakura guitar was made without compromising on either sound or design.
