Description
Description
Rick Turner, an innovator in the electric guitar and bass world, began his career in the 1960s. As co-founder and developer of Alembic, Highlander, and D-TAR, he has been involved in building instruments for countless musicians, including the Grateful Dead. He has also made numerous contributions to the guitar industry, including providing technical support to other companies, writing music books, and launching Rick Turner Guitars.
The Renaissance series instruments, which claim to be "Amplicoustic," were developed based on the reverse idea of "designing the instrument body so that the pickup can optimally pick up acoustic string vibrations," rather than "electrifying acoustic instruments." This solves problems such as changes in the sound quality of acoustic instruments caused by the pickup and feedback caused by body resonance.
Despite its thin body comparable to a solid bass, it features the construction of an acoustic instrument, with a red cedar top and mahogany sides and back. It's equipped with a pickup system made by D-TAR (Duncan-Turner Acoustic Research), which Turner co-developed with Seymour Duncan, and amplified by the company's preamp, resulting in a vivid acoustic sound that's faithful to the picking touch. Also, like a semi-acoustic guitar, a center block is placed inside the body to suppress excess vibration from the top board, preventing feedback, and the piezo pickup provides excellent sound pickup of string vibrations.
The condition is good with a few small scratches on the head top and a few small dents on various parts of the body, but other than that there is no noticeable damage and the guitar is in relatively good condition.
