Johnny Marr is known as the guitarist, arranger, and songwriter behind The Smiths, a band that redefined British pop and dominated the music scene in the 1980s. A master of weaving striking, dynamic melodies, layers, and textures, Johnny has developed a unique and instantly recognizable talent for his work through his solo career and countless guest appearances with bands such as The The, Pretenders, Modest Mouse, and Cribs. The Johnny Marr Jaguar supports a performance that is as distinctive and flexible as the sound he creates.
Packed with special features, this model is based on Johnny's modified 1965 Jaguar, ideal for the discerning, unconventional guitarist. Two custom-wound Bare Knuckle Johnny Marr single-coil pickups deliver cutting-edge tone that cuts through a band's sound. A four-position blade pickup switch offers series wiring options for high output and a thicker tone, while two slide switches on the upper horn roll off the low end globally or in position 4 for a brighter tone. The maple neck, custom-profiled from Johnny's original guitar, features a vintage-style truss rod in the heel and a 7.25"-radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 vintage frets. The Jaguar bridge, modified to Johnny's specifications, features Mustang saddles, chrome covers, and nylon post inserts for improved tuning and performance stability. The vintage-style floating tremolo features a tall tremolo arm with a nylon sleeve insert, ensuring a secure lock in any position.
This model's hardware and chrome control plate add a futuristic touch to the sleek offset design. Finished with a nitrocellulose lacquer finish, the Johnny Marr Jaguar will naturally age to reflect the player's personality and playing style. This updated take on a classic Fender design supports a performance as unique and flexible as the sound he produces.
-----
The condition of this guitar is in player's condition, with scuffs, scratches from playing, slight discoloration, and some dents on the hardware. The frets remain at about 70% of their original height, the neck is generally straight, and the truss rod has tightened slightly, but still has room to tighten more than half a turn. There are no other issues with the performance, including the electrical system, so this is a guitar you can enjoy for many years to come. Don't miss this opportunity!
