Description
Description
This is a guitar that we especially recommend for intermediate players who want to take their sound to the next level, and for active guitarists who want to play with full force in live performances!
The D-12E Retro is a model that delivers the powerful bass and far-reaching sound image that players expect from a guitar of this size. It combines a classic aesthetic with functionality designed for stage use. It's a guitar that doesn't compromise on either looks or sound.
The body top is made of solid spruce, providing a fast attack and clear articulation. It produces a well-defined sound for chord strumming and a clear, resonant tone for single notes. The solid sapele back and sides add warm midrange and a pleasant punch, blending perfectly with the powerful bass characteristic of a dreadnought. The result is a well-balanced tone with depth and richness.
The internal structure employs scalloped X-bracing. This is a structure in which the bracing supporting the top plate is deliberately carved out to allow for easier vibration.
While maintaining the necessary strength, the top moves more freely and flexibly, resulting in a richer sound even with a light touch, and a more dynamic tone when played forcefully. As a result, strumming gains more power and breadth, while fingerstyle playing allows for rich expression of even the most subtle nuances.
In terms of design, it features old-style dot inlays inspired by the Style 18, a multi-stripe rosette, and nickel open-gear tuners with butterbean knobs. Traditional details are scattered throughout. The gloss finish that covers the entire body highlights the beautiful grain of the wood, creating a high-quality presence.
The neck features a high-performance tapered Performing Artist shape, where the width and thickness change naturally from the lower to the higher positions. This ensures a secure fit in the hand when playing low chords, while allowing for easy finger extension and smooth fingering in the higher positions. It's comfortable for hand sizes and provides a comfortable grip that reduces fatigue even during long playing sessions. The moderate tension provided by the 645mm scale improves clarity and projection, maintaining a clean and focused sound.
Furthermore, it features Martin E1 electronics and a built-in tuner, making it ready for amplified performances. The included softshell case ensures safe transport. It performs exceptionally well in any situation, from home practice to full-fledged stage performances.
The D-12E Retro inherits traditional style while offering the operability and practicality that modern players will appreciate. Its powerful yet refined sound is sure to elevate your playing to a whole new level. Experience the bold and clear Martin tone for yourself.
