Description

A series that carries on the will of Yasuo Momose
LEGACY series

Headway, known for its high level of craftsmanship, produces a wide range of guitars, from traditional to exotic and modern, and is known for its high level of craftsmanship. Aska Team Build is made up of a small but elite team of several members who have spent 10 years at Headway under master builder Momose. Aska Team Build incorporates rare woods not typically used in regular models, as well as processing and design techniques that require advanced skills, resulting in guitars crafted with meticulous attention to detail, not only in sound but also in appearance.

This model is part of the LEGACY series, which brings together the ideas and techniques of Yasuo Momose, who passed away in 2024. Based on Headway's flagship model, which has a history of over 45 years, it has been created with special thought as a "guitar that grows with you" that can be played for a long time.

The body features a classic combination of Selected Sitka spruce for the top and Indian rosewood for the back and sides. The bracing, "LG-ARS (Legacy Advanced Rear Shift)" is an original design that Momose pursued through repeated minor changes in order to achieve a better balance between sound and support as he worked on each new guitar. The bracing is shaped using a special M's scalloped technique, which Momose describes as "the closest to his ideal." The powerful dreadnought sound, the expansive sound of Indian rosewood, and the overtones of Sitka spruce combine to produce a delicate yet powerful and expansive sound that maintains the Headway sound of the past.

The neck is made of African mahogany with an ebony fingerboard, and Momose, who was a guitarist, once said, "The thicker the neck, the more durable it is, and above all, the better the warm, woody sound." He preferred a neck that felt firm and comfortable to hold. The neck was shaped with a slightly thicker V-shape using a jig that Momose himself actually used, resulting in a vintage-like feel and a solid sound.

In terms of design, it is a model with a traditional look that Mr. Momose has been making, but it is a model that you can feel the attention to detail, passion for making, and history. The many years of know-how and technical skills have been gathered together to create a model that truly deserves the name LEGACY (inheritance).
