Description
This is a limited edition model featuring a silver case, green LED screen, and red knobs.
*Price and sound are unchanged from the regular model.
Tone Controls - These are part of the cleanup circuit and shape the tone before the fuzz. The bass shape goes from tight and forward when turned down to fuller and rounder when turned up. The treble shape subtly rolls off the high frequencies, creating a softer fuzz tone. This shape is more noticeable even in clean settings.
The second footswitch - RAW mode - bypasses the cleanup knob and tone control and returns you to a full RAW fuzz sound, creating a dual fuzz-like effect for versatile sonic variety.
The updated "Cleanup" control has a much smoother taper than the older version, and the "Fuzz" control is also much easier to use, allowing you to set post-gain to shape the sound a bit, as well as set a maximum fuzz level when cleanup is bypassed in raw mode.
With a higher output volume than the original Fuzz, it can really pump up your amp, whether you're using it in full fuzz mode or as a cleaned-up, colorful germanium boost.
The power supply has also been improved, allowing the Fuzz+ to accept any 9V DC power source (center negative) and daisy-chain with other pedals, eliminating the need for a separate power supply.
■About the "CLEANUP" knob: Turning this knob up will clean up the fuzz.
It works in conjunction with the pickup simulator by mimicking the guitar's volume knob, so when you turn the guitar's volume knob back a little, you get a cleaner, sparklier boost/light overdrive tone, which is the hallmark of a good germanium fuzz.
■Equipped with a "Pickup Simulator" Because many fuzzes have very low input impedance, placing a high-impedance guitar in front of a fuzz produces a very pleasant high-mid range bump and roll-off, while maintaining a relatively gentle and musical sound.
Putting a low output impedance buffer or other pedal in front of a typical low impedance fuzz will result in a very unpleasant squealing and vibration that will completely lose all musicality and nuance.
If you've ever placed a buffered Tube Screamer or wah in front of a fuzz, you'll understand this very well.
Silktone Fuzz fixes this issue with an onboard pickup simulator, so no matter where you place the pedal in the chain, it will behave just like if you plugged your guitar directly into it.
■About "Bias" Bias is the operating voltage of a transistor and determines how the audio signal is distorted and clipped.
This unit allows you to set the bias for the germanium transistors.
See below for the optimal gate bias settings.
Vintage sound: 10-11 o'clock direction Sweet spot: 12-3 o'clock direction Bubbling sound: below 9 o'clock direction
■About the "LED Bias Meter" Germanium fuzz is extremely sensitive to temperature, so even adjusting the bias knob on other pedals becomes completely meaningless if the temperature fluctuates greatly, forcing you to adjust it by ear every time, which is not always easy.
SilktoneFuzz+ uses active bias monitors, which makes it convenient to use when setting up.
Power supply: 9VDC power supply (center negative)
Daisy chain connection possible.
Current consumption: 35mA
