Description
Description
The Tone and Feedback controls allow you to create repeats with more character than a simple delay: playing just before feedback can create a low, growling sound, and the Dynamic Output Filter can be used to make the repeats fade out slowly.
You can also add random delay time modulation to create a delay sound with the texture of a real tape echo, recreating the subtle, realistic fluctuations that occur when the motor in an open-reel tape machine never completely stabilizes.
Furthermore, the CV input function allows you to freely control delay time and feedback using an expression pedal, etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
■ COMPRESSOR
The first stage of the delay features a discrete JFET feedback compressor, which evens out the signal dynamics and prevents distortion introduced by the delay stage.
The dry signal (the signal sent to Mix) does not pass through the compressor. Only the feedback signal passes through the compressor.
■TONE AND FEEDBACK
Meet Maude's tone control emphasizes the high frequencies of the delayed signal when turned clockwise, the low frequencies when turned counterclockwise, and slightly reduces the low-mid frequencies at the center position.
Delay feedback and tone are closely related, as all repeats pass through the tone section, so the tone control can be used to change the timbre of the feedback, or to make it more susceptible to feedback by moving it off-center.
DELAY TIME MODULATION
Random modulation can be applied to the delay time, creating a unique effect in which the delay time rises and falls irregularly.
■VOLTAGE CONTROLLED FILTER (VCF)
To combat noise generated by the delay section, the output is gated with a voltage-controlled low-pass filter. The filter opens when the signal is loud and begins to cut high frequencies as the signal gets quieter. This reduces noise when you're not playing and also has the effect of making the repeats sound a little darker. The effect is more noticeable when you play softly.
■CV JACK
By default, the CV jack is set up to control the feedback amount with an expression pedal (the movable terminal of the expression pedal is connected to the Tip terminal of the jack).
You can also assign other functions to the CV jacks using the microswitches inside the unit. For details, please refer to the included "Meet Maude Programmer's Manual."
