While undergoing minor changes over time, the Custom 24 has remained a central model in the PRS lineup since the company was founded in 1985. Its refined sound and playability have made it a favorite of many artists, making it a model that is synonymous with PRS.
Based on the highly acclaimed 2016 model, this model features a Gen3 Tremolo bridge. While the PRS Tremolo has always had a reputation for tuning drift when using a tremolo arm, the Gen3 Tremolo features grooves cut into the bridge plate where the saddle set screws are located, and the six saddles are tightly positioned to prevent lateral movement and minimize tuning drift. Additionally, the bridge mounting screws have been enlarged, and the saddle height adjustment screws, saddle mounting screws, and the areas of the saddles that the strings come into contact with are left unplated, contributing to rich overtones and sustain.
The 2016 Model features the popular 85/15 pickups, first used in the 30th Anniversary Model and continuing to be featured in the 2016 Model. These pickups, bearing the year of the company's founding (1985) and its 30th anniversary (2015), are slightly different from the vintage-inspired pickups like the 57/08 and 59/09. Developed for a modern classic character, they offer a wide range from high to low end and a punchy, moderately powerful sound. Because the pickup output is lower than that of the HFS & Vintage Bass, they faithfully reproduce subtle picking nuances, producing a clean to crunch range with a pleasant edge, while still retaining the distinctive PRS midrange presence. This truly player-friendly sound maintains its edge and never gets lost in the midrange, even when driven heavily with a high-gain amplifier.
In terms of the condition of the guitar, there are a few small scratches and some dullness on the parts, but no deep scratches that would detract from its aesthetic. The frets remain at about 70% of their original height, and there is no problem with playability, including the neck and electrical system, so this guitar is sure to be a favorite for many years to come. Don't miss out on this opportunity to own a custom guitar that will captivate many guitarists with its beautiful appearance and high-quality tone!
