Bassist Rei Shimizu, who has been involved in product development for world-famous effects manufacturers and is highly trusted for his ultra-enthusiastic and strict evaluations, has now completed a purely Japanese-made fuzz pedal for bassists, packed with the know-how he has cultivated through his exploration of fuzz and his passion for bass fuzz!
The HORNET DEVICE MAVERICK is essentially a "highly distorted" effect. It was developed with a focus on this effect, so don't expect a natural overdrive-like effect! On the other hand, in the range of intense distortion, it covers a wide range of tones, from old-fashioned fuzz sounds to modern, futuristic synthesizer-like fuzz tones. This fuzz perfectly combines "incredibly long sustain" and "sharp staccatos," two characteristics that are difficult to achieve together, and it offers tremendous advantages, especially when used with bass.
This model was developed with bass voicing in mind, and is compatible with a wide range of bass outputs, from vintage passive ones to high-output, low-impedance ones. While distortion pedals not specifically labeled for bass are often perfectly suited to bass, the opposite is also true: you'll get a fat, unique fuzz sound when using this unit with guitar.
Dual output specification: Think of the "FX OUT" as a normal output. The "DRY OUT" always outputs the original sound. By incorporating it into a system as a parallel box (2 OUT), you can create sounds you've never experienced before.
For example, you could use two bass amps, sending distorted sound from the FX OUT to one amp and the DRY OUT to the other amp to preserve the original sound. It might also be interesting to use the FX OUT as a dedicated distortion signal for a guitar amp, and the DRY OUT for a bass amp. Using two amps might seem complicated, but it's actually surprisingly practical, since most live music venues have more than two amps. The ability to process in parallel allows you to isolate effects that you don't want to interfere with the distortion, which is a major advantage.
Explore a variety of musical expressions by making full use of the fat sound, flexible tempo control, and unprecedented DRY OUT function.
Be sure to try out the one-of-a-kind effect pedal "MAVERICK"!
Vol. knob: Adjusts the volume during effect
TONE knob: Adjusts the tone. Turn left for milder, turn right for sharper
DRIVE knob: Adjusts the amount of distortion
FX. OUT jack: Effect sound output jack (connect to amplifier, etc.)
DRY OUT jack: Jack for outputting dry sound (connect to an amplifier, etc.)
IN jack: Input terminal (connects to the output of an electric bass, guitar, other instrument, or effect)
DC IN jack: AC adapter (sold separately) connection terminal
Pedal Switch: Effect on/off switch
LED indicator: Lights up when effect is on
*The "TONE" control has a very sharp effect. When turned all the way to the left, the low end is emphasized, and as you turn it to the right, the lows are cut and the presence increases. In particular, in the "MAD" range, a treble sound with high harmonics, like shattered glass, is obtained. When used with bass, it creates a savage guitar sound. It is quite intense, so please use with extreme caution!
