Description

Yamaha has been actively producing original models since the dawn of domestically produced electric guitars in the 1960s. In particular, they introduced a large number of original models in the late 1970s, and have long been a leader in the Japanese music industry.

This time we have in stock the entry-level model "SJ-500" from the Super Jam series, which was released around 1978, made in 1979.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 4.0 kg. The body, reminiscent of the F company TL model, features a maple top and alder back, with large contours on the elbows and back of the body. The color is a vibrant see-through persimmon red, and although there is a large dent on the end of the body, it is in relatively good condition considering its age.

【neck】
The one-piece maple neck and fingerboard are in excellent condition, with little damage to the back of the neck. The tuners are slightly unevenly wound but function normally. The frets and nut are somewhat worn, but there is no buzzing or clogging, and playability is excellent. The nut width is approximately 41.0mm. The neck shape is typical of Yamaha. The truss rod has very little movement left.

[Electrical system]
The controls are simple: 1 volume, 1 tone, and a 3-way pickup selector switch. The bi-sound switch is omitted. The pickups are a "G-III" humbucker in the neck position and a "JI" single coil in the bridge position. The combination of a thick, lustrous humbucker and a sharp, clear single coil is appealing.
