Description
Description
The model we have in stock this time is the "SG-800S," and based on the serial number we believe it is from around 1982.
【body】
The overall weight is approximately 4.2 kg. The body material is a maple top and mahogany back. The color is red sunburst, and the cloudiness that is common on Yamahas of this period is almost completely gone, with the exterior in fairly good condition. The metal parts are relatively clean, but there are signs of wear such as scratches on the horn on the first string side and the headstock, damage to the wood, small scratches and scuffs all over the body, especially on the sides, and paint peeling on the pickup cover.
【neck】
The mahogany neck features a rosewood fingerboard and a set neck joint. The inlays are dot inlays, not the arrow inlays typical of the Yamaha SG. There are no noticeable scratches or dents on the back of the neck, and it doesn't feel catchy. There are some slight dents, especially on the low frets, but they're not noticeable. The nut is also fairly well worn, so playability is excellent. The nut width is approximately 43.3mm. The guitar features a wide, thin neck profile.
[Electrical system]
The controls are the standard 2-volume/2-tone/3-way pickup selector switch, and the tone pot features a push-push type bi-sound system (coil tap), a familiar design. The pickups are originally open-type, but appear to have semi-open covers. Based on a powerful yet crisp humbucker tone, the bi-sound system allows for even sharper single-coil sounds. In addition to soldering repairs to the neck pickup's eyelets, the pickup ring has been replaced with a standard two-point support.
