Description

The RS124 vacuum tube variable-mu compressor, which was used extensively in The Beatles' recordings in the 1960s, has been "officially reproduced" for the first time in over 50 years.

The RS124 was a new compressor developed by EMI engineers at the time, who independently improved on the ALTEC 436. It was used on most recordings made at Abbey Road Studios in the UK in the 1960s and 1970s.

Chandler Limited, the only company in the world to have a business partnership with Abbey Road Studios, has thoroughly researched several existing machines, as well as handwritten notes and circuit diagrams from the time, and has perfectly reproduced even the individual differences in the sound of these historic machines.

In addition, functionality has been improved while maintaining the vintage sound, with features such as variable attack making it easier to use in modern recording environments.

Following on from the REDD.47 Pre Amp, the RS124 has been revived, allowing us to once again enjoy the historic rock sounds of bands like The Beatles and Pink Floyd using the original hardware, rather than the simulated sound of a plug-in, which is extremely valuable.
RS124 is official hardware equipment from EMI and ABBEY ROAD STUDIO.
