■Product Features: Equipped with the K47/49 dual diaphragm capsule inherited from NEUMANN's legendary masterpieces, the U47 and M49.
- Carefully selected vacuum tubes (triodes) and a transformerless circuit provide excellent transmission characteristics and extremely low noise levels.
- High durability and stable quality that maintains ideal operating conditions for a long period of time thanks to technology cultivated over a long history and tradition.
Classic tube circuitry and an advanced solid-state output stage deliver a modern yet punchy vintage sound.
This is an attractive microphone that takes advantage of the thick, warm sound quality of a vacuum tube microphone while boasting the naturalness and high resolution that is unique to Neumann.
◎A 21st Century Classic Tube Microphone
The M 147 Tube recreates the classic sound of Neumann's famous tube microphones from the 1950s. It's a cardioid microphone using the same large-diaphragm capsule as the legendary U 47, but with an innovative tube circuit for low noise and a transformerless output stage for superior performance. While vintage microphones relied on large, expensive audio transformers for final impedance conversion, the M 147 employs a state-of-the-art transformerless solid-state output stage, allowing for long cable runs of up to 300 meters without transmission loss and delivering an incredibly direct sound with unlimited bass response.
It's ideal for vocals, both male and female, as well as for speech applications like voiceovers and film dubbing. The M 147 also excels as a spot microphone for any solo instrument. The M 147's exceptionally low self-noise of just 12 dB-A allows it to be used on quiet sources. While its maximum SPL of 114 dB seems low, the M 147's distortion slowly rises to 5% THD at 134 dB SPL, making it effective with louder sources. This behavior is intentional. The M 147 creates the sensation of increased loudness through soft saturation, reminiscent of the days of analog recording.
