Description

Introduced in 1955, the Byrdland, named after two guitarists, Billy Byrd and Hank Garland, is a Gibson signature musician model. It's a high-quality archtop guitar, featuring a 17-inch wide, machined solid spruce top, maple back and sides, a slim 2-1/4-inch body, a short 23-1/2-inch scale, gold hardware, and luxurious decoration.

The latest addition to our inventory is a beautiful natural blonde from 1976, said to have been formerly owned by an overseas artist.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.0 kg. The body is a hollow construction with a two-piece solid spruce top, a 2-1/4-inch wide maple rim, and a two-piece solid maple back. The elegant and beautiful materials that stand up to the natural brand color are one of its charms. The pickguard has been replaced with a matching tortoiseshell pickguard. There is some weather checking, some cracking on the current pickguard, some stains and scratches due to dents, and some dullness on the metal parts, but considering the age of the instrument, it is in relatively good condition. The bottom of the bridge has been shaved to improve height adjustment.

【neck】
The neck is made of three pieces of maple with a walnut buffer, showcasing a subtle flame grain. The fingerboard is made of ebony. A beautiful torch inlay shines on the front of the headstock, and the sides of the fingerboard are multi-ply bound. There are some scratches on the headstock and some rough paint on the back of the neck, but the guitar is in relatively good condition. The tuners function well with little variation in winding. The nut has been replaced, and although the frets show some wear, playability is excellent. The nut width is 42.0mm. The neck profile is characterized by a pronounced thickness that gradually increases from the headstock toward the 12th fret.

[Electrical system]
The controls are a 3-way pickup selector, 2 volume controls, and 2 tone controls. The output jack has been replaced, and the pot shielding covers remain intact except for the rear tone pot, which has been removed. The pickups feature engraved T-tops from the time of the pickup's release. The Gibson humbucker, a direct descendant of the PAF, has a moderate resistance but a powerful feel, and the construction of the case produces a crisp yet elegant and warm tone.
