Description
【body】
The overall weight is relatively light for this model, at approximately 3.1 kg. The body is made of mahogany and finished in a sophisticated brownish sunburst color. There is overall weather checking, paint chipping due to age, a clear coat touch-up near the left side of the bridge, the name engraving on the back of the body, dents and other scratches, cracks and shrinkage on the pickguard due to age, and tarnish on the metal parts, giving it a wonderful vintage feel. The short vibrato unit (currently out of stock) has been removed and replaced with a Badass-style bridge. The rear pickup cover has also been replaced.
【neck】
The neck is made of set mahogany. The fingerboard is made of rosewood. There is weather checking from the top of the headstock to the back of the neck, paint chipping around the headstock, dents on the back of the neck, and tarnish on the metal parts, but like the body, it is in good condition. The tuners are slightly loose, but function well. The frets and nut have been replaced, and playability is excellent. The nut width is 39.8mm. The neck shape is relatively thick despite its narrow width. The truss rod cover set screw has been replaced.
[Electrical system]
The controls are a 3-way pickup selector, 2 volumes, and 2 tones. The 3-way switch operates in the traditional Gibson style: neck (front), middle and bridge (rear), and bridge (rear). The middle and bridge are in-phase, making for a more versatile sound. The pickup selector switch has been replaced at our shop. The balance of each pickup is adjusted using spacers and sponges under the pickups, and the middle pickup is set low for playability. The instrument itself has a good resonance thanks to its long history of performance, and the P-90 pickups of this period offer a rich, clear tone with a crisp, articulate sound.
