871714
Fender USA VINTAGE Jazz Bass '74 Sunburst/M
Since its release in 1960, the Jazz Bass has been a flagship model for Fender, alongside the Precision Bass, and continues to influence the music scene. Numerous variations and reissue models have been produced by the original manufacturer, as well as inspired models by it from other companies, solidifying its position as a standard model for electric basses.

This particular guitar, shipped around late 1974, features an alder body, a four-bolt one-piece maple neck, and a finger rest on the 4th string side.

【body】
The total weight is approximately 4.3kg. The body is made of alder. The finish is the "Fender Thick-Skin High-Gloss" finish unique to this period, and the 3-tone sunburst color with a strong reddish tint is beautiful. The finger rest has been moved to the 4th string side. There are minor dents and scratches, paint peeling mainly on the body sides, and tarnishing on the metal parts, giving it the feel of a vintage instrument. Some metal parts are missing. The pickguard, pickguard screws, and control panel screws have been replaced with new ones.

【neck】
The neck and fingerboard are made of one-piece maple. The neck has desirable features such as flame grain on the headstock and birdseye grain on the back of the neck. There are some minor dents on the fingerboard and back of the neck, and some tarnishing on the metal parts, but considering its age, it is in relatively good condition. The tuners are fully functional, although there is some slight variation in the tightness of the winding. The nut has been replaced by our shop, and the frets have been leveled, resulting in good playability. The headstock thickness is 13.6mm, and the nut width is 38.2mm. It features a sturdy neck shape despite the narrow width characteristic of an A-neck.

[Electrical System]
The controls are a standard Jazz Bass wiring (2 volume/1 tone). The pickups have been replaced with Fender "Pure Vintage '66 Jazz Bass" pickups. The potentiometers and output jack have been replaced, but the tone capacitor is the original one.

The combination of an alder body and a one-piece maple neck, along with the characteristics of the Sixkin finish, results in an impressive sound with a fast attack, tight low end, and solid low-mids. The neck pickup delivers a thick, sustained tone, while the bridge pickup provides a crisp, bright sound. When mixed, it also produces a clear, punchy slap tone reminiscent of the 70s. It's a sound character that embodies the punchy and well-defined sound that supported the mid-1970s music scene, a time when funk, crossover, and rock flourished.

Accessories: Fender molded hard case

Weight: 4.3kg
Body Material: Alder (4 pieces)
Neck Material/Scale Length: Maple 1 piece/864.0mm (34inch)
Fingerboard/Fret Marker/Radius: Maple 1 piece/Pearloid Block/184.15mm (7.25inch)
Nut Width/Fret Size: 38.2mm (replaced)/2.6mm, 20 Fret
Neck Thickness (1F/7F/12F): 22.0mm/24.3mm/25.3mm
Capacitor: Illinois Tool Works Blue 200V
Pickup (Neck/Bridge): (replaced) Fender Pure Vintage '66 Jazz Bass Set (6.0kΩ/6.6kΩ)
*The DC resistance value of the pickup is measured after passing through the control section.

Heartman Vintage Guitars is a specialty store for vintage guitars and basses operated by Ikebe Musical Instruments.
