854486
GRETSCH VINTAGE 6128 Duo Jet '55
Founded in 1883, Gretsch has supplied a wide range of musical instruments over the years. In the 1950s, they began developing electric guitars, and continue to produce attractive guitars to this day.

The '6128 Duo Jet', which began production in 1953 and was released as a solid-body model in 1954, features a 13-1/2 inch (342.9 mm) wide / 2 inch (50.8 mm) thick mahogany body and a 24-1/2 inch (622.3 mm) scale mahogany set neck. It's well-known that this model was intended to compete with solid-body models from companies like Gibson and Fernandes at the time.

The one we're introducing today was shipped around 1955, and we've secured a unit in excellent condition.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.2 kg. The body is made of the familiar black Nitron coated/maple laminate top with a one-piece mahogany chambered construction. The tailpiece with the "G" mark ensures tuning stability. Although there is some weather checking near the heel cap, dents mainly on the body sides and back, scratches on the top surface, and tarnishing on the metal parts, it is in remarkably good condition considering its age. The weather checking near the neck set has been touched up with clear coat.

【neck】
The neck is made of mahogany. The fingerboard is made of rosewood with a beautiful grain. Overall, there is some weather checking, small dents on the back of the neck, and slight tarnishing on the metal parts, but it can be said that it is in good condition, just like the body. The tuners are Waverly open-back tuners, and they function well with little variation in winding. The frets and nut show only slight wear, and playability is good. The nut width is 43.6mm. It features a relatively solid neck shape.

[Electrical System]
The controls are the original Jet-style electric setup: a 3-way pickup selector, master volume, two volume controls, and master tone. The pickups are the original DeArmond Dynasonic pickups. The height adjustment spacers under the pickups have been replaced. The sound of the Dynasonic pickups from this era is superb, evoking the rockabilly and early rock and roll of the 1950s with their fast attack, clear, articulate tone, and the punchy, full sound characteristic of single-coil pickups.

Built on high-quality tonewoods, the hollow body construction and sturdy neck shape combine to produce a rich, full-bodied low end, a sustained and powerful midrange, and a sparkling, edgy high end. This guitar boasts a rich and expressive sound, from clean to overdriven tones.

Accessories: A worn Gretsch tweed hard case.

Weight: 3.2kg
Body Material (Top/Side&Back): Laminate wood/Mahogany 1 piece, Hollow 13-1/2inch
Neck Material/Scale Length: Mahogany 1 piece/624mm (24-1/2inch)
Bridge/Tail: Melita Synchro Sonic Bridge, Chrome/Gretsch G Tailpiece, Chrome
Fingerboard/Fret Marker/Radius: Rosewood/Pearloid Block/304.8mm (12inch)
Nut Width/Fret Width: 43.6mm/1.8mm
Neck Thickness (1F/7F/12F): 22.1mm/23.6mm/24.5mm
Pickup (Neck/Bridge): DeArmond/Rowe Industries Dynasonic Single Coil, Chrome

Heartman Vintage Guitars is a specialty store for vintage guitars and basses operated by Ikebe Musical Instruments.
