858563
Ibanez VINTAGE 2680 '78 Natural
Ibanez, a world-renowned guitar brand, has a long history, beginning in the 1930s when it started manufacturing its own Spanish guitars. From the 1950s onwards, it mainly manufactured and exported electric guitars, but around 1979, it made a triumphant return to the Japanese market. Since then, it has grown into a global brand that leads the music scene both domestically and internationally.

This latest arrival is the "2680," which was part of the lineup in the late 1970s. Along with its sister model, the "2681," it's an indispensable instrument when discussing the psychedelic rock scene.

【body】
The guitar weighs approximately 4.0 kg. The body is made of ash for both the top and back, in a natural finish. It features meticulous craftsmanship, including a stepped body perimeter and a gently arched top. Overall, there are signs of wear commensurate with its age, such as scratches, dents, some paint peeling, deterioration and cracks in the binding, and tarnishing of the metal parts. Some screws and control knobs have been replaced. There are traces of a relocated strap pin on the bass string side cutaway. Additionally, one of the bridge anchor screws is broken.

【neck】
The neck is made of maple and features a set-neck construction with an ebony fingerboard. The position markers are dot inlays, but the distinctive headstock is the same shape as the higher-end 2681 model. The tuners are original Velvet Tuners, and they function reliably with fairly consistent winding. The back of the neck has a few shallow scratches and dents, but is not as damaged as the body. The frets and nut show some wear and some dents, but there is no extreme buzzing or dead spots at present. The nut width is approximately 43.7mm. It features a relatively sturdy neck width and a thin profile.

[Electrical System]
The controls consist of two volume knobs, two tone knobs, and a three-way pickup selector switch. The rear potentiometers have been replaced as a set. The neck (front) pickup has been replaced with a DiMarzio PAF, and the bridge (rear) pickup with a Tom Holmes Japan THC J450. The neck position has a rich low end and a deep tone, while the bridge position is clear and responsive, resulting in a well-balanced sound.

Accessories: Soft case

Weight: 4.0kg
Body Material (Top/Back): Ash
Neck Material: Maple
Fingerboard: Ebony
Nut Width: 43.7mm
Fret Width: 2.9mm
Neck Thickness (1F/7F/12F): 20.8mm/22.4mm/23.9mm
Pickup (Neck/Bridge): DiMarzio PAF/Tom Holmes Japan THC J450 (7.4kΩ/7.6kΩ)
*The DC resistance value of the pickup is measured through the control section.

Heartman Vintage Guitars is a specialty store for vintage guitars and basses operated by Ikebe Musical Instruments.
