It's finally arrived after about three years since the order was placed! Our custom-made F-Bass BN5 Solid Black Matte, featuring a Macassar ebony fingerboard and black hardware, has arrived!
F-bass, a handmade bass brand led by a small but elite team of leading Canadian luthier George Furlanetto, produces high-quality 5-string basses with a feel similar to a jazz bass, while still maintaining a unique, original style.Their instruments are now hugely popular with top players around the world, regardless of genre.
While maple fingerboards are common for F-basses, this model features an optional Macassar ebony fingerboard, which, combined with the matte black finish and black parts, creates a refined look. Many bassists will appreciate the ebony fingerboard's quick response and low center of gravity. This is a recommended specification for players who use technical fingering and rotary slap techniques.
The solid ash body weighs just 4.46kg, making it easy to handle on stage, and it's equipped with a three-piece quartersawn maple neck, original pickups and preamp. The 34.5-inch scale length provides an exquisite tension balance, resulting in a wide range of tone thanks to the high-quality wood, and the guitar has a tight yet traditional natural tone that's appealing.
This is an extremely excellent instrument that achieves a good balance of a moderately compressed, open, punchy sound without compromising the tight low B sound, and a traditional sound that pays respect to F. It is no exaggeration to say that this model could always be the main bass for bassists of all styles.
The model we ordered in our shop has Master Vol + Balancer controls instead of 2 Vol, making it easy to use on the job for both band members and studio musicians.
